5.7" Outlet Duct - Caution

Be careful here!This unit has an outlet duct of 5 19/32" which DOES NOT match any standard ductwork.I ended up using 6" flex duct that was crimped down to the outlet duct via a 6" clamp but that's hardly professional.I suppose this unit is designed for a market other than the USA.The electrical outlet box is mounted (tack welded) directly on top of the housing flange which means you must cut a sheetrock openingthat will compensate for this outlet box dimension. (otherwise the outlet box would come in direct contact with the ceiling sheetrock).You will then have to purchase a 6" to 4" duct adapter if using as a replacement and exhausting via the roof or soffit. Again not ideal for air flow.The unit is very quiet but look for a unit with a more standardised dimension otherwise, you will vastly complicate your install.

Great Fan, Difficult Install

Pros:- Very quiet for how much air it is moving.- High airflow (190cfm) version, great for larger bathrooms.Cons:- It says 6" discharge, but it's actually slightly smaller, which was odd. I screwed in a 6" rigid elbow and then foil taped the joint.- Difficult for retrofit applications. For installation, the opening in the ceiling drywall is quite large (12-13/32" x 17-7/8"), due to the electrical box and discharge duct. You will need to do some ceiling drywall repair after installation. Since my ceiling drywall is 5/8", I had to buy a full 4'x8' sheet since Lowes/Home Depot only sell 2'x2' repair sizes that are 1/2" thick.- You have to build the support structure. I used 2x4s.Do your research before hand! This took a lot longer than I was expecting due to the ceiling repair work and duct replacement. I was replacing a $15 builder's special that had a 4" discharge. Due to the 6" discharge, I replaced the entire ductwork from the discharge to the vent through the siding, which added a lot of time/cost.Overall, I would highly recommend this vent for someone building a new bathroom in an unfinished space (basement, new build, etc). But for a retrofit, I would have looked more seriously at other options.

Quiet, lowest energy draw for half baths

These are quiet and easy to install. Panasonic offers a bath fan sizing calculator at their website-- this is their smallest, and it's suitable only for a small bathroom that has no tub or shower. Very low electricity draw; durable, long-lasting fan. These are the only fans to buy, unless you can install in-line fans where the motor is remotely located in an attic, even quieter. Panasonic offers in-line fans also.
