Great phone for VOIP
By Rush E. Simonson
Awesome product. Works as advertised. The voice quality is disarming at first. The person you are talking with seems like they are in the same room with you.

SoundPoint IP 650 - Great Product, Awful Instructions
By G. Hall
Firstly the good news, the product quality is great, solid build and a good reassuring weight. The IP sound quality is superb - I have just replaced a Siemens C475IP phone with this Polycom SoundPoint 650 in my home office and the sound quality is vastly better on the Polycom. The layout is fairly clear and logical, although the number of Speed Dial buttons is limited as it does not use the number keys (which would seem an easy idea) but feature keys and there are only 6 of those which are also used as 'Lines' so not many Speed Dials left. Seems limited in order to sell the expansion module. If you are wondering where it is made, mine was built in Thailand. The real problem is the level of instructions that come with the product, basically it is non-existent in the box, there was a quick-setup guide in Chinese. I then had to do various internet searches for how configure the cables which is different for an EHS adapter (for use with a Jabra Headset), a pdf document I finally tracked down online after about 3 hours of tearing my hair out. I had to hunt down 3 different Polycom pdf documents to finally work out how to set-up the phone.I also hoped that I could use up to 6 different SIPs with the phone, but it seems only one SIP provider will work at any time and the 6 lines are just if I had 6 numbers set-up with the one SIP provider. Great product but certainly not user friendly for home office use.

Great durability
By savvy shopper
I've been using this unit for many years now. We have two small children so both the DVD and VHS have gotten a lot of Disney movie use.We bought this "cheaper" brand because we had been going through more expensive units at a surprising pace. (If I'm going to wreck them regularly, they might as well be cheap, right?) The brands we had tried were Sony, Toshiba, Magnavox... I can't even remember them all. The Allegra player is still going strong-- "The Princess and the Frog" is playing as I type this.I play lots of DVD+/-R movies burned by my PC. It has never had a problem reading them. The remote is very easy to use-- the buttons are organized and labeled very sensibly. I wish all remotes were like this one.I was not able to get the remote to control my TV, but it's a very old TV. I suspect the TV vintage is the problem, not the remote.I have never used the progressive scan capability but I suspect I will one day, as it will probably outlast my kids' TV!

Great and Inexpensive RAID PCI-X (Not PCI Express) with some limits
By RTPMason
I have several of these cards (2410SA, 2610SA, and 2810SA) and haven't had any real problems whatsoever! I love the controllers! Now the Seagate 1TB drives I have on them, well that's a WHOLE OTHER STORY!!! I only use 1TB drives on these controllers (See below) and usually run as RAID 5 with extra drives as HOT spares. These controllers run on the larger PCI-X bus which is totally different than the PCI Express bus. The buses are physically different. The PCI-X bus has a much larger bus slot profile than the PCI Express and the buses are not interchangeable so make sure you get the right card for your bus. Check out the pictures of cards with both buses to see the physical difference. Here are links to make things easier:PCI-X[..]PCI Express[..]All that being said, this car is a bit older than other cards out there and HAS two MAJOR HARDWARE IMPOSED LIMITS.First, a 2TB LIMIT to the total array size. This means that even if you load up the array with four (4) 1TB drives, you can't get more than a 2TB array out of it.Second, a 1TB limit maximum on the hard disks that you can attach to the array and try to configure. Now I have read on the internet that some folks have said that they've been able to have two (2) 2TB hard disks installed and mirrored, but I couldn't get that to work. They may be confused and have a newer adapter (2420SA, 2620SA, or 2820SA) as they don't have either of the above restrictions, and really should be the choice for anyone looking to create a large RAID array with the larger SATA drives available now.I have installed these in Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM (eServers), and Intel rack mount servers with great results. They are VERY fast controllers (for the money) and do have some minor quirks (Check out the Adaptec support site and forums for the details) but they are very minor compared to the 24/7 365 days a year stability that they provide for our servers. All in all this card allows someone to have a high quality hardware RAID for very little money. Just make sure your system has the PCI-X bus, and remember about the size limitations.
