Gitzo GB1540 Carbon Fiber 1 Series 6X G-Lock Microphone Boom Product Description:
- ALR - A new Anti Leg Rotation system, which means the tripod can be opened in less than 15 seconds. Simply loosen all the twist locks on each leg at the same time, then pull the leg down and tighten the locks individually.
- G-Lock: The Gitzo leg locking system has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock's special design also provides a "gravity lock" effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.

Solid Construction, Great Value
By M. Brodnick
After using this for a year now, it gives good performance for the price. It does everything you need from a boom pole, on simple mic setups - that means a shotgun or a short condenser with basic wind protection. Very lightweight at collapsed or fully extended positions. Now, it's only when you start using a full Zeppelin kit, maybe at full boom extension, where things may start getting...bendy. But the material is made for that. It has kept its original shape time and time again.Handling noise isolation is not the best, so I use grip gloves to dampen it. 4/5

Super lightweight, basic boom
By Scott FS
Weight and strength are the two main attributes one looks for in a boom pole. Since the boom operator is going to be holding the pole with a microphone on the end, and holding it above (usually) the actors, weight obviously becomes an issue. For an all-day shoot, one needs to be able to hold the pole so that the actors can be understood, and the volume of their voice is consistent from take to take. This is a basic, low-cost carbon fiber boom pole. As such, it has no frills such as internal cabling, or an articulated configuration. That said, it performs very well. The only thing one must make sure of, is to have the cable from the mic securely attached to the boom. One can use gaffer's tape, but that's messy. I use my cables for other things besides attaching to a mic. I use velcro ties that are reusable and hold the cable tight to the boom. The pole has four sections, and they are locked into place with knurled rings. These are easily tightened so that the pole does not move (slide) once they are tightened. The pole is easy to handle, and is light enough to get through a whole day without noticeable fatigue.A solid recommendation for the basic, but well-crafted and light, carbon fiber boom pole. I'm happy I purchased it. It's nicer than my painter's pole I used previously.
