Works fine for an inexpensive DC clamp meter.

I use this meter to give me an initial idea of how well my Solar power system is doing by checking how much DC current is going into and out of the charge controller, inverters and battery bank. I only use the clamp feature and only for DC, so I can't comment on the meter lead jacks or the AC functions. The DC clamp function works fine. The meter has a Zero button that needs to be pushed each time you turn the instrument on, otherwise the display shows around 2~3 Amps with the clamp in open air. I don't have anything to test accuracy, but the numbers I get are consistent with what calculations and other instruments are saying.It's not a Fluke, but it's worth more than what I paid for it.10/20/2011 update. The meter is still working fine.

Really sucks

I've had this meter for over 4 years.The manual was useless.I have always had trouble trying to see if the DC Current was accurate. Through trial and error I also realized you have to "reset to zero" but my impression it held the value that it last measured rather than just random readings.I paid a lot for the meter back then and I should have bought a Fluke or other quality meter.If the manual were better I might feel better but I don't know half the specs I need to know I made a mistake but soon I will simply buy a Fluke.I have no other complaints about functionality and I suspect 80% of my issues with this meter would have been nonexistent if I had been able to get a decent manual.Companies who import and sell this meter need to spend real money working with the engineers who designed this meter and develop a decent English-language manual. That would solve the biggest issue (documentation)ETA I revised the number of stars upward, giving it a "1 Star" was wrong as it works well enough once you reverse engineer 1. How it's supposed to work 2. What the caveats and special procedures are (I can't say I have been able to figure out more than reset to zero with the clamp-on) I am an engineer too, so if I have trouble how would someone else less technical feel?ETA I also forgot to mention the first time I tried to change the batteries. I removed the screw and I could NOT get the battery cover off. I had to remove ALL the back screws lift up the rear part of the case and FORCE the battery cover off once I saw that the lid was STUCK and was pulling the entire battery housing away from the motherboard when trying to get the battery cover off. I filed off a bit of the plastic and was able to get the battery cover off and on again without mangling the meter.ETA When I bought this meter it was 280.00 US so you can imagine how happy I was with it for that price. At the current price I guess I wouldn't be so annoyed.

Many features, good price

I wanted a meter that could test both ac AND dc at a "decent" price; not to costly not too cheap so this one fits the bill. It is made in china, go figure right? Mistranslations present in the manual. Seems slightly delicate, not something to drop on concrete too often. All functions work.
