PRIZE, PREMIUM, PERFETTO!

You know what they say about first impressions. This basket was our initial experience with Flying Noodle and what a great first impression it made! The presentation is lovely - goodies arrived in a handsome wicker basket secured with a leather turn knob. The basket is roomy, 12" by 14" and approximately five inches deep. Obviously, we'll find many uses for it after we've enjoyed what's inside. Speaking of its contents - our basket held three pastas - Tomato Serpentini, Tri-Color Rotini, and Napoli. We found this to be a taste tempting collection, offering three quite different dishes. While all of the pastas are delicious, the Tomato Serpentini is especially fine - robust, hearty, rich in flavor, reminding us of homemade pasta we enjoyed in Italy. The sauces included were Original Pasta Sauce ( wonderful with or without the addition of mushrooms or meat) and Vodka Pink Peppercorn Sauce (also mighty tasty). Plus, there was a jar of Garden Vegetable Presto-Presto. We were more than happy with our introduction to Flying Noodle, and look forward to trying more of their products. - Gail Cooke

My central heat went out and I ordered this unit to get by temporarily. With ceiling fans circulating the air this unit heats my entire house! Who needs central heat? I strongly recommend this product.

will never go back to the standard plug in Heaters

Seeing how I had an open 250 wall socket from a old a/c that went bad....i decided to buy this Heater for the back rooms of my old double wide for the upcoming winter.The last few years I have been using just them standard plug in electric heaters, you know, the $30 dollar ones you see in the stores as winter approaches.This Heats up great! It's not to loud...way better than any standard 115 volt plug in wall unit. The BTU's on this is almost TRIPLE to any standard heater. This has 13,000 BTU, a standard 115 plug in heater max is 5100 BTU.For less than $100 it's a great investment!If you have a 250 20 amp socket, get this! If not, them plug in ones ain't too bad (Radiator kinds).

Very good heater

Bought 2 of these to supplement our pellet stove in our living room.First of all, please note these are 220 volt, you will probably need to have some electrical work done first. These will not plug into a standard 110v outlet.We have trouble getting the living room temp up because it is large (15 x 30) with lots of windows (double pane). Also, it is an addition and of the 90 feet of walls, 75 feet are outside walls. The insulation is there, but nothing fancy. Fiberglass between 2x4 studs.After working all day we do not have a lot of time to relax in the living room. The pellet stove is great for the weekends, but during the week it takes too long heat up the living room. By the time it gets warm, it's time to sleep.Today the packages were waiting on the doorstep, opened them up and plugged them in. Faint "new heater" smell, not bad. 18 degrees F outside, had to turn the heaters down after about an hour to keep from roasting. I think that qualifies as a success.Some notes:They do not have "tip over" protection that will automatically shut them off if tipped.They do have a small "flip-up" handle on back, to lift them.They are lighter in color than the picture, without the sticker on front.They have an orange light that is on whenever they have power. It only goes out if the unit is unplugged. So there is no easy way to see if they are switched "off" from a distance.They have two controls: a rotary thermostat and a 3-way rocker switch (Low, Off, High)The fan is the same speed on low or high.They take 16.7 amps on high.The instructions are generic, meant to cover every type of heater that TPI makes.

Great building wire

To add a little to M. Driscoll's excellent review:This wire came in an appropriately-sized box, and was a bit heavier than I expected (since it's a bunch of solid copper). It bends as easily as any 12/2 wire, and strips pretty easily.I usually use a wire snips to cut the wire, and a box-cutting knife to slice the outer shield, then I pull that off and use a wire stripper to pull off a small bit of the individual wire shields.The price on Amazon is comparable to the price you'll get at a big-box retailer. Note that 12/2 wire is good for interior electrical wiring and lighting up to 20 amps. If you just need to run lighting wire, you can get by with 14/2, but I like running 12/2 in case I ever need to convert a light wire run into an electrical box.

... because the plug will not fit any of my power equipment (Earthwise 50120 20-Inch 12 amp Electric Mulching Lawn Mower with Grass Bag, Black & Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper 4.5 amp Electric Chain Saw, McCulloch MCS2001 14 amp Electric Chipper/Shredder). It's about ¼-inch too big! Ridiculous! I'm giving it 3-stars because it most likely will carry the current to anything its plug will fit... Oh, and BTW: it's really heavy!

They don't make them anymore

Electric companies do not like resistive loads, because they dissipate power in the transmission lines. Hence we are condemned to use compact flourescent twisted lamps. They claim to last five years, but most of mine lasted only one. So, now I have a lifetime (I'm 73) supply of warm light bulbs that work over a wide temperature range.

With the environazi UN light bulb ban being rolled out all over the world, we must buy all the incandescents we can while they'll still let us.If you want to leave a light on all day long, CFLs have their uses when it comes to saving money. But if you need immediate bright light, you need incandescents. This 48-pack will last you a very long time.2012 is the last year you can buy 75W bulbs in the US, and 2013 will be the last year you can buy 60W and 40W.See this Washington Post article for info on the incandescent ban (and their replacements) listed by watt:(Amazon doesn't allow links in reviews, so go to the Washington Post's Web site and type in "Lights out for the incandescent bulb")As of the date of this comment, the 48-pack of 75W shown here is out of stock on Amazon, and there are two "Used & New" from Ace Hardware. Great bulbs! Stock up while you can!

These bulbs are still available in some stores, but they won't be for long if our illustrious leaders have their way. We use the curly compact fluorescent in the garage or in high places where changing a bulb is difficult, but in other places we want the warmth and white light of incandescent bulbs.This 48-pack of bulbs will last us for years, but the box is small enough to store out of the way in the garage. Get them while you can!
