Just put this together last night!
By Sprite Marie
My mother and I have looked at a couple of other Step2 kitchens for our home daycare but decided not to get them (they were to green!). After seeing this one on Step2's website, we were instantly hooked! We just put it together last night and it went together quite quickly. We used an electric screwdriver, which always makes it easier. I adore this kitchen but there are a few things I would have improved upon, considering the price. First of all, the doors to the refrigerator, microwave (which is on the small side), and the oven are made out of a thinner kind of plastic, unlike the rest of the kitchen. They also have a few scratches already. Also, there is not as much cupboard space as I would like and we'll still have to keep some of the food in a plastic tub. As with a lot of other models, the silverware drawer is not attached and it is very easy to pull out. We improved that by buying some sheets of thick self-adhesive felt used for lining the bottom of furniture so it doesn't scratch. We applied it both on the shelf and the bottom of the drawer and now it is much better. On the the other hand, this kitchen has many pluses. It has room to accomodate a few kids, the counter area is great for serving each other food, and the baskets and included wooden stool are just to cute for words! I'll update this more after we have had it for a few days; the kids haven't even played with it yet, but so far I think they will love it!

This is a great kitchen, even if it's a tad expensive
By C. Green
We were on the fence about which kitchen to buy but had decided it would be a Step2 product. We wanted to try and find it locally, and Toys R Us only had a limited selection. They had this monster and the really small one. I had all but resigned myself to ordering one of the mid-sized ones online when we stumbled into this thing in the Seasonal section at Sam's Club yesterday for $199. With the price difference we jumped on it. After putting it together and looking at everything it would have definitely been worth it at full price. Our daughter (2) hasn't stopped playing with it yet, and we may have to figure out how to hide it at bed time because she wants out of bed to play more... Our 7 year old son even loves to play with her even though he's a bit too large to play *in* it.On that not, it looks massive in the photos, but its not quite as giant as it may seem. Since the stove is on one counter separate from the rest of the kitchen items it makes for a much narrower kitchen. With the quality of the unit and the way it is assembled I expect to get several years of use out of this kitchen. You won't be disappointed either.

Worth its weight in gold
By Working Mom of 2
I have a 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter. My brother bought this for my mom's house as a gift to the kids (the kids stay with my mom while I work). My son actually wanted the kitchen - he's taken an interest in cooking and his imaginative play has really taken off lately. Anyway, it came in 2 huge boxes, assembly took about 1 hour - need an electric drill, overall easy to put together (I did it alone) and it is just adorable. We were surprised the 1 year old was so into it. The kids have been playing with the kitchen everyday for at least the last 2 weeks. Even the 8 & 9 year old neighbors come over to play with the little ones. The electronic features are hysterical. My son might grow out of it in a year or two, but my daughter has years ahead of kitchen play. I would recommend buying a second stool for a 2nd child and some extra food/cups/utensils to replace any lost items. Great quality toy. I love the faux hardwood floor and that its padded for little feet. My mom has been able to get so much done around the house without the 2 kids contantly at her feet.
