great product
By monkuboy
I got this product for use in the office, as we often have bids and sales presentations that need to be bound in a sturdy and attractive manner. The first thing I did when I got this item is to open the box and read the instructions. That didn't take long at all, which I guess is a good thing although I was expecting more. The thing is, it is so simple to use that there really is no need for a lot of instructions. One reviewer posted a video review which, although it was for the larger Quasar model (I have the Pulsar E300), the basic information is the same only that one has higher capacity. The machine itself is rock-solid. It is heavy, with good build/construction quality. This is no lightweight, flimsy thing, it is meant for long-term use. You simply punch the pages - the motor is sturdy enough to easily handle 15 pages. Someone mentioned doing 20 but that's stretching it. Then you punch the covers, line everything up, put in the comb binder and it's done. It is really quite simple and the machine does an excellent, quality job. It was also engineered in a thoughtful and efficient manner, with a storage tray underneath for the binders that also serves as a measurement tray to determine the size of comb you need, and with another tray for the punchouts from the paper.A starter set of comb bindings and covers comes with the machine. All in all it is a well-thought out product and is of high quality. It will certainly get the job done and ought to last a long time, too. A few years ago our office purchased a different sort of binding machine, one that fuses the paper together with glue but it was limited as far as how many pages you could use and also not as user-friendly. Plus some pages would inevitably fall out if you used more than just a few. This comb binder is much more versatile and user-friendly.

Easy Peasy
By Karen Joan
The FELLOWES OFFICE COMB BINDING MACHINE is designed to punch rectangular holes in stacks of paper and make it easy to insert a plastic binder into those holes. That's its purpose and that's what it does. I have never used one before, and I was able to make a perfectly bound report on my first attempt. To me, that says it all: a tool that works. The FELLOWES OFFICE COMB BINDING MACHINE seems to be well-constructed and has some nice features like a tray for the binders and another for the non-hanging chads. But here are my dings: first, my unit wobbles. I can't see a reason for it. All four rubber feet are in place and immobile. You can't adjust them. But pushing down on the left front corner lifts the right rear corner. It doesn't impact on the function of the machine, but it's odd. My other ding is the manual. Why is it so hard to write a good manual? I was able to muddle through it, as I said, but the pictures are black and white line drawings with 1 sentence underneath. There are a total of 9. They don't even take up an entire page. I'm all for brevity, but "Insert the plastic comb into the opening mechanism" doesn't help much when the picture is basically the entire front of the machine. They don't show that you have to slide the comb behind the big teeth and rotate it forward so that the little teeth catch it. But as I said, I figured it out.But these annoyances should not prevent you from using The FELLOWES OFFICE COMB BINDING MACHINE to bind your way into your professor's hearts. Once you've bound 1 report, you'll forget all about the manual (which was stapled, not bound, for some reason).

Review for the Fellowes Pulsar Office Comb Binder
By H. J. Spivack
This is a very solid binding system. I work in a busy office, and we frequently do bindings. Too many times, I've bought binding machines ('systems') only to break handles off, fine the cutting heads dulled beyond usage or flimsy final bindings. The Fellowes Pulsar isn't like that. Its heavy (you probably won't be carrying this around once its found a home in your office), durable (very solid state, no worries about armatures breaking off) and sharp. Its motor is strong enough for the job, though it sounded like it was having trouble punching through the touted 20 pages (it did it, but I believe I will use 12-15 from now on). When I first opened the box for the binding machine, I expected it to be more complicated than it was. In fact, I thought I might have been missing parts. But after reviewing the very well written instruction documents (a matter of about 4 whole minutes) I had everything and was ready to go. Remember that I have experience in binding machines, which are generally a little complicated. This one is NOT complicated, its easy to use.A final comment before closing: This item is not cheap, but the final product that it produces doesn't look cheap. If you are looking for the cheapest way to bind materials, this is not it. If you are looking for the best bang for buck on binding materials, this binder is a worthy addition to any office.
