Overall I'm very happy with it... only a few drawbacks
By R. Carvalho
I like the materials that the stand is made of. It's very light yet durable. It's great that you can adjust it for sitting or standing. Because I'm 6' tall, I pretty much have to put the stand to it's maximum height. So, I don't think it would work for anyone taller than me. It's definitely comfortable to use and to stand at. I like how I can use it anywhere, even in areas with very little space. I live in a small apartment so I can set it up just about anywhere. There are only a few complaints I have about the product. First, the higher that you crank the stand, the less stable it is. It's stable enough to hold my laptop, but when I have it on the highest position, I have to hold the stand when opening my laptop so it won't fall over. That doesn't happen when I'm in the sitting position. The other small complaint I have is that screwing in the top platform that holds the laptop is not always the easiest. So, it's better if you don't have to take it apart all the time. But, because I live in a small space, I have to disassemble it every day. It's not so bad, just a minor annoyance.Overall, it's a really great product and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive solution for sitting and standing with a laptop. Those sit/stand desks can be really expensive.

Good product. Dishonest product description.
By David Arnstein
This product is an intelligent compromise between light weight and high durability. I am mostly pleased with this gadget.I rate this product four stars because the product description is misleading. Take a look at the last illustration of the product. See the smiling man holding his inStand at an odd angle? His inStand has a notebook computer attached to it, and it is NOT sliding off and crashing to the ground. That is the feature that I wanted! This picture makes it clear that a notebook computer can be securely attached to the inStand. Not so. The top of the inStand is a simple metal plate, with a textured rubber pad on top. No clamping or lacing arrangement is provided. The maneuver being performed by the smiling man in the picture is not possible. It would be possible to jury rig something with velcro strips. But this solution would be awkward, because the top surface of the inStand is TEXTURED rubber. Attaching velcro to that would not be pretty. Anyway, I don't want to glue velcro onto my notebook computer. With the above complaint in mind, I find that this product offers poor value. Really, it is little more than a headless camera tripod. Just think what a nice headless tripod you could get for the same money. This thing is way overpriced.

Very portable
By Bakari Chavanu
Got the stand today. Plan to use it on event video shoots, whereby I import video footage directly to my laptop. It's going a great time saver. As for the stand, I really like how lightweight and portable it is. It's not sturdy enough for rugged situations, but it works fine if you're going to be near or in front of it using your computer. And it's true, the laptop table is made of material that keeps the laptop from quickly sliding off. If you lean the stand over longer enough, it will eventually fall off, but if someone accidently bumps against it, it's not going slide off very quickly. And sure, it's a little expensive for what it is. You can alway put your laptop on a chair or stool, but this stand is simply great and unobtrusive for presentations, and the like, in which you need to access your laptop.
