Works great For Me

HeyYes it is flat but that works great for me..Iam an old guy and I use it sitting down on the front deck in a pedestal seat...works perfect for that...I think the angle on one would have me holding my foot up with my heel planted and get uncomfortable after awhile...the old cable ones had the angle on them but took so much presure you could rest your whole foot on it I have two remotes and auto pilot so when one person hooks up the other has a remote to control the boat.. but sometime you just need both hands when fishing by yourself...this is when the foot pedal shines...

It works, but...

The foot pedal works exactly as advertised. There are foot operated switches for on/off, autopilot, faster, slower, left/right, however, it mounts flat on the deck and therefore, it is difficult to operate the steering from a seated position. It is as though the accelerator pedal of your car where straight down on the floor of your car in front of your seat. A very uncomfortable angle. The steering pedal right or left requires that one push with toe or heel to steer and should be angled so that it could positioned in front of your seat to be operated as one does the accelerator of ones car. The Minn Kota mechanical steering model that this motor replaced had just such an angled pedal. Too bad Minn Kota had to try to fix something that wasn't broken. I'll have to construct an sngled platform for this pedal before it will be at all useful.

Another high quality product from Minn Kota. Easy to use and very comfortable making it less straining on the legs after a long day on the water. Very reasonable shipping.
