Inexpensive, beautiful showpiece board.

A beautiful board and pieces with a ton of character. The pieces might be a tiny bit nondescript for casual players especially when distinguishing the queen from the rook and the bishop from the pawns, but this happens a lot on smaller 12x12 sets. If the bishop had the more traditional slat cut into its head, that would distinguish the playing field wonderfully. The onyx is breath-taking though... I love it. Extraordinary at this price.Billiards-felt on the bottoms of the pieces would have been a plus and I was a bit surprised that extra queens were not included. The box is very nice though and the packaging for shipping was first-rate. Of all the boards on Amazon, this is my recommendation; it's a balance of everything a chess set should be.
