4Great fixed screen for the price
By Kidcreole1
I was a little skeptical in ordering this screen, but compared the prices I found for similar sized screens (100" diagonal), I figured I'd give this bargain priced one a shot. There was a small delay in delivery. I was tracking the shipment and was surprised to find out that the screen was re-routed back to the shipper in mid-transit. I contacted the company and they quickly responded indicating that the wrong screen was inadvertantly shipped and they were sending the correct one. When the correct screen did arrive, I promptly called a friend of mine to help with the set-up (certainly at least a 2-man job). Assembly is required for the screen, which I expected, however, the instructions were no where to be found in the box. Instead of contacting the company, I figured that it shouldn't be rocket science and we could pretty much figure it out. After laying out all of the pieces including the 4 sides of the frame, the rolled screen itself, the bracket clips and the tension rods we put our heads together and logically figured it out. We are both relatively handy, but I do admit that it would have been much quicker and very helpful to have the instructions in hand. After getting the whole thing assembled (the screen is essentially stretched and clipped to the back side of the frame), we encounted another little snag in figuring out how to mount it on the wall. This was not as straight forward, but we essentially just used dry wall anchors w/screws of the right head size (6 total)to fit into the frame groove spaced equally apart along the top to "hang" the screen. In other words, think of it as a big framed picture that you are trying to hang. Of course the major challenge here is to make sure it was level. We used a laser line to line-up the screws. After all that was done (whew) and the screen was mounted, we fired up my ceiling mounted projector (Mitsubishi HC5500 1089p LCD) and tested it out. I am not a complete A/V-phile, but from my personal opinion the projected image looks great (hence the reason for the 4 stars despite the other issues; would have probably given it a 5 if not for that). The screen seems to do it's job well and I can't imagine that paying over twice the price for other comparable screens on the market would make the image that much better. So for value and function, this screen is a winner.
