3Great value compared to rivals, only remote controlled switchable conditioner
By A. Doss
Slowly been upgrading my AV rack and wanted to minimize phantom power draw from my game consoles (the PS3 and xbox 360 consume more power than I like in standby). Researched Panamax, Smart Strip, and Monster. I wanted something that was clean power, would let me monitor my draw and I didn't have to get off the couch to turn off various components completely.I've used the Smart Strip upstairs and it's great, but I was tired of rolling my AV rack in the living up close to the wall, only to have the power strip between the rack and the wall. So, I wanted something that was rackmountable. I've used Tripp Lites for my computer racks....and was glad to see they have a Home Theater variant of their systems...was even more please to see they had a remote control with 4 "switchable" outlets on the back, which could be turned on by the front of the unit or the remote. The unit shipped with rack ears, removable feet, a network cable, Coax cable and an angled power cord. The Unit itself has a nice from aluminum fascia. And the blue indicators (voltage from the line and amps drawn) is nicely lit blue color. For the price, it's a great product with some features not found from Panamax or Monster....and sometimes Monster scares me with their approach to business practices.Cons....the remote control that shipped with the unit is pretty flimsy and, in my case, even with repeated walkthroughs from Tripp Lite customer service (who are really top notch) I couldn't get the remote control to "sync" with the unit. Thereby, my want to sit on the couch and turn various components totally on or off (not just standby) was defeated. I've RMA'd the first unit, hope to get the problem solved shortly. Changed batteries. Repeated their sync process inches away from the IR receiver. Even tried to use a universal learning remote to learn the signals...but the remote wasn't spitting anything out.I'm hopeful Tripp Lite Customer Service will be able to send me a new unit, otherwise I may go get a Panamax and just use the 12v trigger and put my receiver on an unswitched/always on outlet. Or wait for the Monster "green" series to include a rackmount variant with a remote. It's a great price for a great looking unit and has some features other manufacturer's don't. But, the remote contrallability is a bit of an issue for me. Their customer service is great, so don't hesitate to test one yourself....I hope my unit is just an isolated incident.

4Great surge protector...remote stinks
By John
I really like the Tripp Lite and like being able to turn off certain "always on" devices. It does save a little power. It is very well built and after several months of use my only complaint is the cheesy remote. Its never worked well and I have reset it several times as outlined in the user guide but it still does not work for very long. I have given up on the remote. I would definitely give it 5 stars with a better remote.

4Good product with a minor flaw
By Piet Gulden
Received the product quickly as usual with Amazon and hooked it up. product worked as advertised and TV picture was clearer and amp sounded better so it does its job for a reasonable price.I would recommend putting a power center/surge protecter in line with expense equipment!Only flaw was the remote and as others have remarked it is worthless. I set it up and it works once if you hold it while standing by the center but may not work at all the next time and you have to reprogram it.Other then that it is a good unit and a good value.
