4Great price for an excellent pair of monitors.
By Rick Holly
After going to a digital recording format back in the late 90's I found my old reliable JBL Studio Series monitors just couldn't hold up. After 20 years of faithful service they were retired. My first purcahse was a pair of Hafler M-1 speakers. These are great speakers and I still use them in my partners home studio where we record basic tracks and do our rough mixes. I downsized my own home studio to one small bedroom and had to make a choice of going back to my JBL's or buying something new. I decided on active monitors. I have had great luck with Behringer equipment over the years and can honestly say that I have never encountered a problem with any of their gear. I own a Behringer mixer, a patch bay, an EQ and several other Behringer products that I use in both my live audio rack and my home studio rack.Based on several recommendations I bought the Behringer Truth B2031A monitors about 3 years ago and have not been disappointed in any way. They are LOUD!!! If someoone tells you that these things are short on power you need to have them see a hearing doctor or tell them their source (pre-amp, mixer etc.)needs a stronger output. I have some slight hearing loss after 40 years of playing live and I am told I play everthing too loud. These Behringers are crystal clear at high volume levels. The EQ switches are helpful at tuning them to your room. If I have one complaint it is that all of the controls are all on the rear of the speakers so changing the volume has to be done from an your external source (unless you can easily get to the rear of the speakers in your studio set up). I got around this useing a Lexicon Alpha preamp (very inexpensive) that I use as an output from my patch bay. This allows any of the gear in my patch bay to go direct to the Alpha directly then to the Behringers. It gives me a separate and convienient volume control. The Behringers will give you some very acurate mixes. Some reviewers note that a little more bass may be needed. I mix mostly original and classic rock type of music and I find my mixes translate well to other systems. I am not looking for that extra low end hip-hop kind of "rattle your teeth" bass sound. For that you may need a good sub. For any other music I find there is plenty of bass. One note that is important is to realize that these speakers are somewhat heavy. They weigh 33 pounds each. If your speaker shelf, stands, console or whatever you are placing them on can't hold close to 70 to pounds you may have an issue. Another thing I discovered was that since these speakers are heavy and loud they can vibrate or rattle the surface they sit on and cause "audio coupling" where the the piece of furniture they sit on vibrates with the speaker often causing you to think there is too much or not enough low end. In my case it was causing a muddy sounding low end. A friend recomended a pair of Auralux speaker isolators to go under the Behringer speakers. I got them and my problem was instantly solved. Now I love these speakers. Three years of pretty much daily use and no problems at all.

5Great pair of Monitors very flat response
By Lil Tae
I've had these Monitors since 2005 and it is now 2012. These monitors have been bulletproof and are very accurate. I got the active pair instead of a passive pair. I didn't want to have to deal with a separate amplifier. Best decision I've ever made. They are awesome. Plug and play. The only drawback to these things is that all of the controls are on the back of the speakers including the power switch. Fortunately, they've built in a feature that allows the monitors to "sleep" until they receive a line-in signal. It's like setting them on standby until a sound is played. It works very well. Unfortunately, Behringer has discontinued this model and they now have the B3031. I've been hearing some negative reviews about the new ribbon tweeter they use in that model. People are reporting that the tweeter stops working after a few months ect. So I'm still convinced that this is the model (B2031) to get. Behringer did a great job with these monitors. So pick them up while you still can. If you are on a budget you can't go wrong. You won't find better monitors in this price range. They could double the price and it would still be worth it.

5Wonderful. Great for desktop mixing.
By J. Jones
I have had a pair of these monitors as my go to desktop setup for going on 7 years. I use them for many purposes, although the one I need them to really shine for is sound mixing for independent film production. I have found them to be great for this purpose. I have them routed through an 8 channel Mackie mixer that is connected both directly to my computer as well as through a separate Protools setup. In both cases they work wonderfully. The sound quality is excellent and there is no distortion, noise, hum, or artifacts. The best part is that the response is so incredibly flat. I find that the mids are solid, bass is full and highs are crisp. The sweet spot is good for a desktop setup, but not great if you want to use these for an entertainment center or to dominate a room. You need to be within a few feet of these to get a good balance with the sound. I have mixed several films on these and the mixes have always worked well in a variety of setups, from a home theater to a full size theater. Nothing will work as well for mixing as an in theater mixing studio, but for an incredibly reasonable price these got me awfully close. When I'm not working, these are just plain wonderful to listen to music on. They sound amazing from jazz to dubstep. The sound is just so damn clean. You can hear every nuance in the recording and the instruments. Volume is more than adequate. You could certainly damage your ear drums with these if you weren't paying attention.I can easily recommend these as some of the best monitors in their price range. I listened to a host of other monitors (including many that were hundreds of dollars more than these) and they were the clear winners for my taste in sound. I was actually stunned that many of the more expensive speakers didn't sound as good. I am not crazy about a lot of Behringer products in general, but these I would buy again in a second. I will be crushed when (and if) these ever die on me.
